The Barn Consultant

We have all lost a great friend, Chuck passed away July 2009 surrounded by his family. Although we mourn our loss we must remember his great work and contribution to the Timber Framing industry and Ohio barns. His daughter, Pam, takes up Chucks cause and will continue with his work as The Lady Barn Consultant. A very capable lady indeed to whom I offer all the support I can. Finally to Chucks lovely wife, Edith, you are surrounded by so much love and will never be alone, as will be all other members of the family who miss their father/grandfather you are all in our prayers.

I will leave the following as testament to one very dedicated man and good friend who had such a large impact on my own timber framing career.....

Let me introduce you to a gentleman who holds a place close to so many hearts, Charles Whitney. Better known as Chuck, he produced the Barn Consultant bi-monthly magazine that kept like minded souls informed as to what was happening in the wide world of barns, mainly in Ohio. Charles Leik wrote a very good article on our Chuck and I have included the link here: http://www.thebarnjournal.org/people/index.html.

My own contribution is to say that there should be more Chucks out there, we would all be so much better off. By way of saying thank you the owners of my latest project and I agreed to call the design "The Whitney". It's a strong building of traditional design that will stand the test of time and many years use, it is pleasing to the eye and has a warm feeling even in its bare timberframe stage. So I guess we got it right in calling it "The Whitney" as it so much reflects its namesake!
